Breeding high numbers of Culex restuans and Culex pipiens mosquitoes. These species are responsible for amplification and transmission of West Nile Virus in Indiana. The mixture of hay and water in the black plastic–lined reservoir made this “Indiana’s largest CDC Gravid Trap.”

Description: Temporary woodland pool mosquito breeding site in Noblesville, IN. This site breeds large numbers of Aedes vexans mosquitoes. A. vexans do not transmit any diseases, but they do transmit canine heartworm. A. vexans is the most abundant nuisance mosquito in Hamilton County.
